Maharashtra Government Revolutionizes Agriculture with ₹500 Crore AI Policy
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis-led Maharashtra Cabinet has approved the MahaAgri-AI Policy 2025-2029, positioning the state as India's pioneer in technology-enabled farming. This landmark decision allocates ₹500 crore for the first three years to transform the agricultural landscape.

Policy Highlights:
The initiative integrates geospatial intelligence, IoT, AI tools, and predictive analytics to empower farmers with data-driven solutions. The VISTAAR platform will provide crop advisory, pest management, and government scheme information to farmers in their native language.
Infrastructure & Traceability:
Through blockchain integration and QR code systems, the policy ensures transparent farm-to-market tracking for premium export crops, enhancing food safety and global market access.
Startup Ecosystem:
Public-private partnerships and dedicated funding will support agritech startups in solving region-specific agricultural challenges, fostering innovation across Maharashtra.
Institutional Framework:
A State-Level Steering Committee, Technical Committee, and AgriTech Innovation Centre will oversee implementation and coordinate with four State Agricultural Universities.
Implementation Strategy:
The phased rollout begins with institutional setup, followed by district pilots, statewide integration with national platforms, and comprehensive evaluation by 2029.This policy ensures Maharashtra farmers access modern technology, improved productivity, and sustainable practices while positioning the state as a global leader in AI-powered agriculture.
