Mumbai, 24 November 2025 — Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra passed away today at the age of 89. He had been unwell in recent days and was receiving treatment at his residence in Mumbai. His death has cast a shadow of grief across the Indian film industry.

Health and Hospitalization

Earlier in November, Dharmendra was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital due to respiratory issues. He was on ventilator support for a few days but was later moved home on 12 November under the care of his family. Despite continuous medical attention, he breathed his last today.

Final Rites

His last rites were performed at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Vile Parle, Mumbai. His wife Hema Malini, sons Sunny and Bobby Deol, daughters Esha and Ahana, and numerous film personalities paid their respects.

Tributes from the Film Industry

Known as the “He-Man of Bollywood,” Dharmendra had a career spanning over six decades, leaving an indelible mark on Indian cinema.

Filmmaker Karan Johar wrote, “This is not just the loss of an actor, but the end of an era.”
Actor Amitabh Bachchan shared heartfelt memories of their friendship, highlighting Dharmendra’s warmth and charisma.

Career and Legacy

Over his illustrious career, Dharmendra acted in more than 300 films, including classics such as Sholay, Satyakam, Anupama, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Dharam Veer, and Pratiggya.

His last film, “Ikkis”, directed by Sriram Raghavan, is scheduled to release in December 2025, serving as a final tribute to his cinematic journey.

Family Statement

His family issued a statement:
“Our father was the pillar of our lives. His passing has left a void that can never be filled. May he rest in peace.”

Dharmendra’s demise marks the end of an era in Bollywood, leaving behind a legacy of unforgettable performances, iconic dialogues, and an unparalleled screen presence.
